Sheets Gas Station Coming To Area

Information in the GSO News & Record from this past Sunday, stated that a new Sheets Gas Station will be built on the corner of Guilford College and High Point Road.
This will be a great because there is really no "discount" gas stations close to Jamestown. Nothing against the local Shell or Exxon, but they are more expenseve than most other stations. No word on when they will break ground.

A Great Blog - Must Read

There are sooo many blogs out there with lots of great information. One of my favorites is Penny Pinching Diva. She has a great variety of information on savings, family and cooking. She has some great recipes on her menu list (things that I really would cook and my family really does like.) I used her dump cake recipe - YUM! So check out her site and tell her that Amber sent you!

Dillards

Okay, I wrote about Belks so how can I not say anything about Dillards? They do have some good finds on shoes. I don't think their sales are as good as Belks, but there are some great finds. Starting on 1/28/09 - 2/1/09, take an additional 30% off of already marked down prices. It's worth a look.

Great Deals At Belks!

Believe it or not, I really find some rock bottom deals at Belks! Really, I could stay in the Belks store at Four Seasons for hours. I love the MAC make up counter (nothing really cheap there, but still one of my favorite places.)However, the following departments really have some great finds!

Jewelry: I have found some really nice jewelry for myself and to give out as gifts. I have paid as little as $2-$8 for some really great trendy items. The regular prices were between $12-$45 bucks. (This is a great idea for Valentines Day.)

Home Decor: Belks has some great items for your home. I have picked up towels for rock bottom prices to home decor. If you see something you really like, just hold out for a while. It WILL go on clearance.

Children's clothing: Every year about this time, I head to Belks to buy my 6 year old a coat for next year. I pick a size or two up and save some big money. I am able to get her really good quality coats for as little as $10-$15! These coats go for $65-$80 during peak season.

Clothing & Shoes: This goes without saying...there are some great deals. If you happen to be a "big girl" you can find some really cute outfits for work with out breaking the bank or looking like you shopped your grandmother's closet. I have picked up some dress pants for work that cost $78 for as little as $10!

As you can see, there are some really great finds. I am writing about Belks because it is often a place that you don't think about when looking for a "bargain." This just goes to show that there are deals every where. You just need to know when and where to look. I recommend that you sign up for their email. You never know what reward they may send you. I just received a $10 gift coupon!

Free Pics

Did you know the most drugstores have some type of free deal when it comes to printing pictures? You can load them on line and pick them up at the store. If you have family outside of town, you can load them and send them to their local store to pick them up (you can pay for them on line or have them pay for it when they pick it up.) One free special right now is at CVS.

2009 Goals

Guess I will join everyone in blog land about my financial goals for 2009. Really, they seem simple, however putting them into action is a whole different story!

Goal #1. Knowing how much I spend. I really need to keep better track of my incoming and outgoing budget. Overall, I do okay as I know I save money, but really should be able to account for each dollar. So, I will use January's bank statement and receipts to figure this out. On to the next goal...

Goal #2. Come up with a "real" budget. I want to use the envelope system. An envelope for each category (bills, food, clothes, car, etc.)

Goal #3. Keep Goal #2!

Goal #4. Pay myself 10% of my income in order to start my 3 month emergency fund. (Once I hit 3 months, I'll move it to 6 months.)

So, this is not rocket science right? I think these are goals I can reach. Let me know your goals and how you plan to reach them.

Credit Reports

There are so many scams about getting a "free" credit report! However, there is one site that really is on the "up and up." I use them each year to get a free copy of my credit report from all three reporting agencies. It is important that you look at your report at least once per year because you never know if there is any fraud or someone reported an incorrect item.

Go go the following web site: https://www.annualcreditreport.com

This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. You must request each agency! You may do this via computer or phone once per year.

They may ask you if you want your credit score, say no or there may be a charge.

Spot Shot & A Movie

Spot Shot carpet cleaner is on sale at Harris Teeter. It is a bogo item. It will be $4.99 for two OR $2.50 for one. There was a coupon in the All You magazine for $1 off. This makes the product $1.50. This is a great deal! I really stand behind Spot Shot, I think it is the best carpet product around. Also, it takes out most stains on clothing (a tip from the Queen of Clean - a lady who did a local news program back in Phoenix, Arizona.)

Not only can you get the product for a great deal, but you will also get $5 off of the ticket price for the movie "Marley and Me." Once you buy the product, you'll get a ticket to register on line. Once you do that, you can print the certificate from home for $5.00 off of your ticket.

I hear that this is a cute movie!
