Thanks For The Rainy Day!

Sometimes you need a little help from up above to slow you down. That is why I am thankful for the rain and wind tonight. If it had been clear, I am sure that I would have tried to run out and do "something." Go to the stores, hit up Belks, dinner with a friend or whatever. Since it was rainy and wet, I stayed home with my girls. We made chili, watched the debate and now here I am. A nice night at home!

Now for the savings (the good stuff!)

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and stocked up on tank tops and camys. My daughter (16) likes the layered look and needed some shirts for under her tops. This deal was right on time. They had just about every color and size for $3.00! I know the weather will be cooler, however you can still do the layered look. At work, I like to wear them under my button up tops. They also had a lot of cheap $3.00 work out shorts and tops. (Not for the big girls.)

Going to Fall Festival with my 6 year old in the morning so until next time,

Wow! Time Passes By Fast!

I can't beleive that it has been about a week since I last got to add to my blog. Time goes by sooo fast. I guess this "going back to school" thing has really got to me. However, I WANT that piece of paper (degree.) So how have my savings been lately?

I waited until Sunday afternoon to go to Harris Teeter for the triple coupons. I know, not the best move. However, I really didn't see any GREAT sales, even with the triple coupons. I guess last time around really got be spoiled because there were a lot of BOGO w/ the triples. I did manage to save $108 and spent $52. I stocked up on the BOGO meet (stew meat and cube steak.)

I also did some shopping theapry this last weekend with my 16 year old daughter. We went to a store called Cititrends. I'm on the plus size, so they have some cute tops at a great price. Their clearance is really cheap. However, these are NOT clothes that will last forever and I would NEVER put them in the dryer. However, if you like trendy clothes and a great price, that is your place. They have a lot of urban lines of clothes as well.

Speaking of clothes, do you ever think about going to Sears?
I never think of Sears, however my son works there so I get to use his discount. They actually have some cute things for my 6 year old daughter. Of course I still shop the clearance racks, but the prices are really good. The plus is that they have a program called Kidsavtage Club. If the clothes wear out before they grow of of them, they will replace the item with an identical item or similar item of equal or lesser value. This even includes shoes!

No great deals that I saw at CVS or Walgreens. As for grocery sales this week, I think Lowes Food has the best deals. Yes, they double.

I hope to jump on a bit more. Don't give up on me!

...at the YMCA...

Hey Folks,

Just want to share that the Ragsdale YMCA in Jamestown will have a huge yard sale this Sat., 9/20/08. It is to raise money for their program. Hours are 8-12. If you live in the area, you can find some great deals. They are located on High Point Road, just south of Guilford College Road, next to GTCC.

Also, Target in High Point has backpacks, lunch boxes and stuff for your yard on sale. I reseed my yard each fall (not sure if this is correct as I am from Arizona, where there is no grass.) The seed is about $5 per bag, which is really a great deal. I refuse to be the single mom on the block with an ugly yard! LOL

It's True! It's True!

Just checked Harris Teeter's Web site and.....

TRIPLE COUPONS 9/18-9/21!!!

If you have never joined in on the triple coupon event, get ready. I suggest that you go on Thursday (as soon as possible) to get the best selection. Knowing when your local store gets their trucks in is also good info to have. (Yes, I've called and asked. Hey, it saved me money, time and GAS.) Don't forget that you are not the only person who wants a great deal, so lets not get greedy with taking the last of all the items. There will be other sales. If you find that they are out of an item, don't forget to ask for a rain check. No, it doesn't help if you miss out on the triple coupons, but it does save the sale for you.

Busy As A Bee

Sorry that I haven't been able to really post any sales. Work has been CRAZY, plus I am really busy with homework. I have returned to school to finish my degree. In this day and age, I just feel that I need to have "that" piece of paper. I am a single mom and just have myself to fall back on. I feel that I need to do everything I can to make sure my family is taken care of. In today's world, you just never know what can happen to your job. That being said, All the more reason to watch out for the sales, huh?

I do want to share that if you have a VIC card (Harris Teeter), make sure you link your card to your email. They will send you EVIC emails. This is how I found out about the $25 gift card for trans. meds to HT. PLUS, you get $10 in credit for each script you get filled there! It is credited to your next purchase of $10 or more. I have $10 waiting on me now! This past weekend I received the $25 at the store, in the form of a gift card and $10 credit/rewards that was automatically applied to my sale. Plus, I really played the coupons and the box top sales. I did GREAT!

I also have gone to CVS this past week. Looks like everyone is playing the same deals.Check out KeepingtheKingdomFirst.com for great CVS deals and ideas.

Guess that is all for now. I need to get some ZZZZzzzzz's!

Happy Savings,

Amber

PS. Someone told me that HT will have triple coupons this week. Not sure if true, but keep a look out for it!

Oh No, Not Again!

Word around GSO is that gas stations are placing a 10 gallen limit on gas per car. Also, gas will increase to almost or over $5.00 per gallen because of hurricane Ike, in the gulf of Mexico. The pipeline has been shut down, so no gas is on the way to our area. Just great! I am so lucky that Harris Teeter is down the street from me. Plus, Walgreens is right across the street from Harris Teeter.

I just have one question, there were other hurricanes in the gulf before Katrina, why did that never have an impact on gas? Just thought I'd ask.

What's on Sale this Week?

I know it must seem that I only give "props" to Harris Teeter, however they almost always out perform the other stores. They did it again this week. Lots of BOGO (buy one/get one free) sales, they are also having a 3 day sale this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Their ground beef 80% is under $2.00 per pound. I usually like to buy the leaner ground beef, like 93%. However, I have found that Harris Teeter's 80/20% ground beef is better quality than Food Lions 93/7%! Harris Teeter has a great meat market! There are also several buy 2/get 3 FREE deals. Just think about pairing up some coupons with these deals. I've got to review my coupons and match them up to the sales. I'll share what I find, but may not be until Friday. (Have a BIG test tomorrow night. Wish me luck!)Remember, SR's get a discount on Thursday's at Harris Teeter!
Food Lion also has several BOGO sales, however they do not double coupons.

The Trill Is Going, Going, Gone!

WOW, this past week just zoomed! So, it's back to work in the morning. Please, don't get me wrong, I am thankful to have a job. However, I'd sure like another week off. I did get my junk closet cleaned out and some other items on my long list completed. Not a lot of time for any shopping over the weekend. The ads from Sunday's paper were not wonderful. I think it's that "in between time" for good sales. Keep an eye out and let me know if you see anything that is a "must."

Sunday Paper

Word has it that there will be 4 packs of coupons in the Sunday paper! Most likely, they will start to have more "fall" like products. This is when to start to stack up on can items and baked goods. Remember, to pick up at least 2 papers to really make it work for you. The savings will pay for itself!

"After"

I'm back! I am really happy with my trip to HT. First, I stopped off at that pharmacy to see if I could transfer a prescription and was told yes. That will be $25 in a gift card, plus $10 for any additional prescriptions. I have 3 all together that I'll send that way before 9/30/08. There are no limits, however must not have used the HT pharmacy w/in the last six months. Another great way to stretch a buck!

Before my coupons, but after my Vic card, the total was around $72's. After my coupons? $35.15! Not to shabby, if I do say so myself!

The brown sugar is the only thing that I paid full price for (by mistake.) I picked up the wrong bag. However, after all of my savings and coupons, didn't want to put it back. I also did not have a coupon for the Arm & Hammer carpet smelly good stuff, however it was BOGO @ $2.39. Yes, I also had to buy more Kook-Aide, which we don't drink. I will put these in my box for a local food pantry. Here is the rest:

Bush Kidney Beans .80 x's 2
Ken's Dressing Spray buy 1/get 2 free $2.99 (I had 3/$1 q's = All Free.)
Kook-Aid .15 pack x 12
Wheat Thins $2.79 = Free w/ Kraft coupon
All $2.99 sale x 2 (2/$1 q = $2.00 each)
Old El Paso Refried Beans (my fav) $1.49 each x 2 (.55q - doubled = $1.10 off of 2)
Enchilada Sauce (same deal as above.)So both were $3.80 for 2 beans/2 sauces
Underwood Chicken Spread $1.49 x 2 = $3.98 (2q's for .40 each x double)$2.38 for 2
Uncle Bean Rice $2.59 = Free w/ coupon I received in mail
Greased Lighting $4.00/2 (2q's for $1.50 each) I paid .50 per bottle
Fresh Green Chili (bargain fruit area).59 a bag. (Can't wait to roast them.)
Sara Lee Bread $1.99 x 2 = Free w/ 2 q's
Tyson Chicken strips $5.99 (1/$1q) = $5.00 (My teens eat these for snacks.)
Tyson grilled chicken strips $5.99 (1/$1q) = $5.00
Birds Eye Voila bobo $4.99 (2/$1q) = $2.99 There is also a free something that goes with this.
Veggie All Mixed bogo $2.39 ($1/2) = $1.39
Kraft Singles $2.99 = Free w/ q
Oscar Hot Dogs $4.49 = Free w/ q
Kraft Dressing $2.99 = Free w/q

I know, no meat, huh? That is the thing about buying what is on sale, saving it up and playing your coupons at the right time. I do have a good supply of meat for meals and can wait until a good sale.

But wait, there's more!

I also went to Walgreens. If you print a lot of items (coupons, school reports, whatever,) Walgreens is the place to go for ink refills. Their reg. price is really good, however this week it was 50% off! Black Ink $5.00, Color $7.50! Plus, I picked up 3 french bread pizza's for $1 each and 2 chicken fingers for $1.00 each. Total $18.44 w/ tax. I think this is really good because you can NOT buy one ink cartridge for less than $18 bucks!

Till Next time,
Happy Savings!

My Harris Teeter

About to hit the road for a trip to HT. I guess this is a "before" and "after" posting. I hope to score the following:
All Sale$2.99 (I have some coupons for $1.00 off.)
Vola Frozen Dinner bobo (I have $1.00 coupons.) Also, there is a rebate special on this for a free gift for my 6 year old.
Bush Beans 5/$4 (.80 each) I use these in Chili, YUM!
Greese Lighting Cleaning product 2/$4= $2.00 each. I have 8
$1.50 coupons. This makes them .50 cents! The coupons came from the All You mag!

There are a few other items on the list that really are just "maybe's." I really didn't a WONDERFUL sale. However, now I can load up on the hotdogs, with my Kraft coupons. Well, I'm off to see a wizard...

So, What Do Ya Think?

It is 2:17 in the morning and here I am on my blog! It is really strange how a week goes by so slow when you are at work, however so FAST when you are on vacation! I have only been able to do a few of the things that I have on my list, so that explains why I am up at this crazy hour. One item was to give my blog a new look. Let me know how ya like it!

So, what's going on with the shopping?

Well, I bought a deep freezer today. I feel that I got a good deal at HHGREG. This was my first time at this store. When I compared prices to Lowes, Home Depot and Sears, they beat everyone by about $20 bucks. Best thing was that the freeze fit in my mini-suv, so no charge for dropping it off at my house (savings of $69.00 bucks.)It is 7.5, which is about mid size. This way I can stock pile certain items. I feel that this will really pay for itself.

HOWEVER, before I went to pick up the freezer, I did a bit of shopping!

Walgreens:
Excedrin 24ct $1.99 sale price ($2.00 coupon from last shopping trip) = FREE, plus $1 reward (like CVS bucks.)
I also had a rain check for foil .89 cents and string cheese $1.50.

CVS:
I started off with $4.00 CVS bucks

1 Fbrz notice kit reg price $8.99 / sale price $6.99 / $5.00 coupon = $1.99
4 plastic cups .25 cents each = $1.00 (summer tumbler cups)
4 placstic bowles .25 cents each = $1.00 (summer tumbler bowls)
18 pc of asst candy pops, rings reg price 8.00 / clearnce $2.00 (75% off) This will be sent to my 6 yrs's first grade class, as the teacher asked for small rewards.

Total after cvs bucks $2.46 (.47 was tax)

Now I've got to build up my bucks again!

Diapers

I have no need for them, those years are behind me....
however, I found Pampers, Huggies and Walgreen brand diapers on clearance. Pampers size 3, 104 count for $5.xx (five dollars and some change.) The other jumbo packs (brand name) for $2.xx! I didn't look at the price of the Walgreens brand. There were also large packs of Huggies wipes for $1.97! I was at the Walgreens on High Point Rd & Mackey (Adams Farm Area.) There were a lot to pick from, however I am sure they will go fast!

Stay tuned because I have really found some bargains. I want to load my pics first.
